•           At least 7-9 years experience in Telecom/IT sector

•           Minimum of 6-8 years experience of working on IP networks with 4-5 years experience in MPBN configurations & Trouble Shooting.

•           Experience in handling Cisco, Juniper and Ericsson Networks preferred

 

 

•           Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively.

•           Good Understanding of Telecom Networks with at least 2 years of experience in GSM.

•           Good knowledge of IP technologies, routing protocols, firewall policies would be required

•           Hands-on experience of handling Juniper/redback router, extreme/cisco switches & Juniper netscreen/SRX and Cisco Pix/ASA  and checkpoint NGX firewall within MSS, IN & GPRS network.

•           Ability to work independently and coordinate cross function at a different levels.

•           Excellent analytical skills with high inquisitiveness towards new technologies

 

•           Structured approach towards work

 

•           Pro-active and able to sustain high stress levels.

 

  

Responsibilities

 

•           To work within well defined SLA (Service Level Agreement) and WLA (Work level Agreement) following the defined processes and ways of working with prime focus towards customer satisfaction.

•           Configuration Change Planning: effectively plan to implement all Configuration activities related to routers (Juniper, Redback, Cisco) & switches Extreme as per the network requirements.

•           Change implementation: need to carry out changes after preparing MOP/SOP for planned activity according to severity. The configuration changes will include:

o          Defining firewall policies, opening port & configuring routing.

o          Establishing connectivity within network - MSS, IN & GPRS.

o          Migration of traffic between live nodes.

o          Upgrades & updates (router/switch/firewall)

o          Integrating new node, reconfiguration of existing nodes, shifting of traffic etc.

•           Pre/Post change checks: to ensure that the configuration activity has been carried out properly without any impact on services, Pre/post activity checks and testing will have to be done. 

•           Problem solving: must be able to pro-actively analyze problems and determine solutions based on the facts.

•           Interpersonal skills: must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication. Ability to listen to others and exchange information and knowledge clearly and concisely.

•           Engineer will investigate technical problems, trouble shoot systems that are in operation and if requested, participate in the remedy of systems in case of critical situations

•           To ensure the change request are handled so as to meet SLAs well within the time limits.

•           Interface with the other organizational entities like D&P, NPI, FM, GNOC – FO, GNOC – BO etc
