Senior / Systems Engineer
Responsibilities
Establish stable and maintainable IT systems through the implementation of industry best practices and exploration of new technologies, so as to achieve efficient system management.
- administer the company's Linux Servers and Windows 2003/2008 servers running MS SQL Server, IIS, etc.
- plan and perform system maintenance and OS and security patches.
- troubleshoot and report system incidents/problems and abnormalities.
- create and maintain operational documentation and reports.
- setup IT policies, standard operating procedures, change management, to ensure standardized system environments.
- Create/build and maintain scripts to automate and enhance the operational support.
Perform system planning and change management tasks, and proactively monitor IT systems and recommend enhancements and upgrades when necessary.
- monitor and tune system performance and collect performance data.
- perform capacity planning conduct appropriate actions to deal with capacity issues.
- plan, install and configure hardware and system software changes.
Manage projects, from understanding and analyzing requirements, providing technical advice, to implementing new systems and system changes and coordinating activities.
Manage vendors in the course of the daily task operations
Ability to lead more junior SEs in both technical and project aspects
Perform 24 by 7 systems support
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent, with more than 6-8 years experience in a similar position.
- Experience in managing/supporting Redhat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience in managing/supporting Windows Server 2003/2008.
- Hands on skill in Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.
- Good knowledge of TCP/ IP networking.
- Excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in Databases like MSSQL.
- Team Worker, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possess initiative and able to work independently.
- Technically inclined and with a keen interest in new technologies.
- Ability to lead a team.
