Position – Senior Network Engineer

Location – Bangalore


Job description:

Project Summary and Position Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team that is responsible for implementing and supporting complex WAN environment which runs on a carrier class environment in an enterprise setting providing end to end delivery to the customers spread across the world. This fast-paced environment will challenge your knowledge of BGP, MPLS, Multicasting, QOS, Cisco hardware, Cisco IOS and other complex network technologies. In this role, you will be an important member of a critical team for our Thomson Reuters.


ESSENTIAL DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drives and "owns" end-to-end implementation projects.
• Cleary and concisely communicates issues and concepts.
• Understands what our business is, and how it works.
• Handles Escalation calls from the Global NOC in a timely manner.
• Proactively and continuously improves specific areas within the team's remit.
• Takes part in Evaluating and Testing new technologies.
• Develops and publishes standards, designs, and other documentation.
• Mentor Junior members in the team.

BE / BS in Math, Engineering or Information Technology

• BE


REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Minimum of 5+ years experience ideally working in a carrier network or a large enterprise network in an engineering, or implementation role.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience with BGP and reasonable experience in ISIS.
• Hands-on experience with 7600, 6500, 7200 platforms.
• Experience in troubleshooting Multicasting and routing protocols like EIGRP and OSPF
• Experience in MPLS technologies such as L3 VPN, L2 VPN, and VPLS
• Knowledge of carrier technologies such as SONET, SDH, DWDM, and Ethernet services as well as the ability to work with carriers for troubleshooting purposes
• Hands on experience in Ciso PIX/ASA firewalls.
• Good written and verbal communication skills. The ability to clearly articulate complex issues
• Excellent Team player with proven track record of successful project delivery
• Excellent attention to detail.



Desired Experience
• Any quantifiable project management skills, certifications, or experience is a plus
• Experience with Cisco CRS-1
• Understanding of Internet peering policies and procedures
• Experience with traffic monitoring and management toolkit, NBAR, NetFlow, SFlow
• Experience with Packet Design, OPNET, and similar tools is a plus
• Familiarity with ITIL framework


Any certifications required -

CCIP - Must
CCNP or higher is acceptable
