Senior Technical Support Engineer (Weekend Shift)
Work hours are scheduled shifts corresponding to forecasted customer activity. Planned weekend shift is Thursday to Sunday and may change according to business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on F5 devices
- Proactively and effectively communicate status, plan-of-action, and resolution of issues
- Provide customers and partners with a consistently high-quality support experience
- Participate in on-going training with F5 products and related technologies
- Maintain high schedule adherence (work hours and on-phone time)
- Effectively manage case escalations to tier 3 while maintaining customer communication
- Manage multiple cases and prioritize based upon customer and business needs
- Follow standards-based processes defined in F5’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Contribute to the success of the support team through mentoring and training activities,
- Identify gaps in documentation and KB content.
- Contribute to the training of other engineers and coordinators through creation and delivery of technology or product specific materials
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive technical experience with and knowledge of LAN/WAN operations, Network protocols, UNIX or Linux Operating Systems, and/or Networking hardware required
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model
- Proficient with Windows OS
- Actively providing high-quality support on two or more F5 technologies, or equivalent experience with relevant technologies
- Knowledge of DNS protocol/BIND
- Demonstrated knowledge of high availability architectures, VLANS and Routing (L2/L3) and TCP/IP required
- Proven track record in a team environment
- Highly proficient with MS networking products and systems (Active Directory, MS Exchange, Vista, etc)
- Experience with Clarify preferred
- Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
- Must be able to relay technical information to customers and peers with varying skill levels
Language Requirements
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Multiple language skills are a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher in engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years experience in a technical support role, working with relevant technologies
- Support experience with corporate customers in production environments required
