Senior / Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

Establish stable and maintainable IT systems through the implementation of industry best practices and exploration of new technologies, so as to achieve efficient system management.

• administer the company's Linux Servers and Windows 2003/2008 servers running MS SQL Server, IIS, etc.
• plan and perform system maintenance and OS and security patches.
• troubleshoot and report system incidents/problems and abnormalities.
• create and maintain operational documentation and reports.
• setup IT policies, standard operating procedures, change management, to ensure standardized system environments.
• Create/build and maintain scripts to automate and enhance the operational support.

Perform system planning and change management tasks, and proactively monitor IT systems and recommend enhancements and upgrades when necessary.

• monitor and tune system performance and collect performance data.
• perform capacity planning conduct appropriate actions to deal with capacity issues.
• plan, install and configure hardware and system software changes.

Manage projects, from understanding and analyzing requirements, providing technical advice, to implementing new systems and system changes and coordinating activities.

Manage vendors in the course of the daily task operations

Ability to lead more junior SEs in both technical and project aspects

Perform 24 by 7 systems support

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent, with more than 6-8 years experience in a similar position.
• Experience in managing/supporting Redhat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience in managing/supporting Windows Server 2003/2008.
• Hands on skill in Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.
• Good knowledge of TCP/ IP networking.
• Excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in Databases like MSSQL.
• Team Worker, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess initiative and able to work independently.
• Technically inclined and with a keen interest in new technologies.
• Ability to lead a team.

Senior / Systems Analyst

Job Purpose

• To be part of the IS WCS (Information Services - Web & Corporate Services) team which develops and supports the sales system for StarHub Shops, Customer Services Centres, Roadshows and Exclusive Partners (EP) for Consumer Sales & Channel Partners.
• Support POS System Administrator in weekly price update, loading of cards and promotions for StarHub Shops, roadshows and EP,
• Support Finance users in Inventory and Collection reconciliation.
• Support bill/deposit payment enquiries from Customer Service Centres and Call Centres.
• Propose and implement quick POS solutions to meet Marketing strategies and promotions.
• Gather requirements, design, develop, test and implement effective POS solutions for Shops,Roadshows & EP Sales.
• Support POS system, ETMS (Electronic Time Management System) and Salesforce.com.

 

Responsibilities

• To gather and analyze user requirements, design, develop, test and implement solutions for POS & Sales projects.
• To provide user operational support and ensure full availability of mission critical POS system during shop and road show operating hours.
• To manage vendors for outsourced projects and provide technical consultancy.
• To support POS transactions interfaces to Siebel, Billing, SAP, Data Warehouse, Ideal Sales Order, Ops Reporting and external interfaces to NETS / Credit Cards terminal.
• Work closely with business users to ensure that functionality in the supported systems is used in the correct manner, and adequate processes are in place to handle issues reported by the users.
• Be highly responsive to the dynamic nature of the business environment and to quickly react against any critical issues related to the supported systems at all times.
• Proactively implement solutions and processes to reduce the number of support calls.
• Ensure operational health of the systems by resolving escalated problems and performing application fine-tuning and system performance improvement activities.
• Keep Systems Operations and Training documentation up-to-date & conduct training to users.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, resolve incidents and fix defects promptly.
• Support of application processing (monitoring back end jobs and attending to alerts)
• Participate in planning and revenue assurance activities such as systems reconciliation and disaster recovery.
• Adopt good industry practices and adherence to IS Policies and Standards, SDLC & ITIL.
• Able to propose and implement new solutions to support rapid business changes.
• Able to support 24 x 7 on call / standby.

 

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 4 years of IT working experience.
• Certification in Java, J2EE, .NET, Web Logic and Cloud Computing will be an added advantage.
• Min. 3 years of practical and implementation experience in Java/Web-based POS and Salesforce.com applications.
• Core competency in UNIX, Oracle 10g, PL/SQL, Crystal Reports 2008, Bea Web Logic 9.2/10, Apex programming (Salesforce.com) and usage of JBuilder Enterprise.
• Strong requirement gathering, analysis, design, testing, vendor & project management skills.
• Strong in Java – Core Java, J2EE components: EJB (2.1 / 3.0), Servlets, JSP, JSF, JMS, Swings, Java Script and XSLT.
• Experience in the implementation of Spring / Struts / Hibernate frameworks.
• Experience in building and implementation of mobile apps for IOS/Android/WinMo is an added advantage.
• Experience with managing POS projects and support shops and road shows operations.
• Experience with application development using Oracle, Java, Web and UNIX are preferred.

-Good understanding of Routing Protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF), CoS, QoS, Multicast, IPV6, FW/NAT, IPSec VPN, ALG, GTP, IPS,
-Well versed with Application Protocols (HTTP, HTTPS,FTP, DNS, SMTP, etc
-Good command on Linux, Perl/TCL/C.
-Experience using 3rd party test equipment such as Agilent Router Testers, Spirent Smart Bits, IXIA is a plus.
-For leads, experience leading QA projects is a plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee implementation of, and maintain an advanced contact center and corporate environment to meet a
broad spectrum of business needs as they relate to contact center and corporate networks, telephony
solutions (PBX, IVR, ACD, CTI) and applications such as call Recording and Reporting solutions. Provide
tier 3 support to operational networks, telephony solutions and other communications infrastructure that are
part of an overall call center and corporate solutions.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND COVERAGE
Use business and technical expertise on configuration, maintenance and support of Contact center
and corporate voice and data communications.
Provide contact center subject matter expertise as it relates to skills-based routing, computer
telephony integration, agent monitoring, call recording, reporting and integration with other
applications such as CRM solutions.
Hands-on configuration of all communications equipment including PBX's, Routers, Switches that support operations.
Assist company business partners and Service Operations management in driving technology strategy utilizing best in class solutions.
Development of standards to support contact center connectivity.
Design, maintain and support appropriate device connectivity utilizing MPLS, VoIP, SIP and IPT.
Monitor and perform level 3 network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose complex network
problems in support of communications solutions.
Provides advanced network technical support, and responds to needs and questions of business
partners and users.
Work with management to define contact center needs and implement effective, cost efficient enterprise-wide network and voice strategies to support these requirements.
Coordinate implementation, optimization, and operation of network systems including installation,configuration, and management.
Act as focal point on projects and communications liaison with contact center teams to establish and communicate common goal and direction and ensure on time and on budget project delivery.
Provides 2nd and 3rd tier support for call center issues and on-call availability.
Proactively evaluates systems and resolves any known issues while avoiding user impact.
Perform system administration of the IVR and ACD infrastructure in the call center.
Work with vendors to help coordinate implementations and system repairs.
Capture, implement, adapt and improve project strategies and processes to achieve project
outcomes.
Effectively collaborate, build relationships and influence team members to achieve program
objectives.
Service Improvement: Continuously monitor, troubleshoot and improve program to ensure service
effectiveness.
Program Tracking and Reporting.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
5 or more years of previous experience in Voice technologies and Networking inclusive of at least 3
years experience in configuring and supporting contact center technologies on a converged MPLS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Management Information
Systems or similar area of study.
Certification in network, voice, and/or contact center systems preferred.
Knowledge and skills of the following is required:
o Data network supporting VoIP and SIP.
o Fundamental understanding of information management systems and infrastructure
o Support of contact center designs and implementation of MPLS converged networks.
o Involvement and implementation of large-scale voice and data network.
o IP Networking with specific experience in IP Telephony implementation and management.
o Administration in a TDM and IP environment, skill based routing, call vectoring, ISDN
trunking, Voice Over IP, digital and IP handset management, IP Softphone,
o IP Agent, ARS routing, private voice networking and dial plans.
o Planning and managing systems to deliver both standard telephony and call center features,
specifically exposure to server and gateway technology as well as Legacy TDM systems.
o Proven experience in supporting a high quality and reliable technology infrastructure to a
multi- platform, multi-site, Engineering and Technical Support driven environment.
o Configuring and maintaining Session Border Controllers.
o Asterix Programming and Redfone Gateways
o IVR/Speech systems hardware and application support.
o ACD hardware and application support.
o CTI setup, integration and testing.
o Agent monitoring and training system configuration and testing.
o MPLS networks.
o Current generation Cisco IOS, Switches and Routers.
o Routing protocols, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, RRP.
o Linux scripting, Perl and shell scripting.
