I am writing to inform you about an excellent opportunity with one of our leading client in Bangalore for the below mentioned position Role: UNIX Capacity Specialist Job Location: Bangalore Experience: 7+ yrs Job Description: * Provision of technical leadership within the UNIX Platform for the Managed Testing Capacity and Currency Team, possessing sufficient knowledge of the UNIX technologies and its deployment within RBSG to enable them to develop and support capacity and currency processes across the centralised test estate. Role responsibilities * Investigate and mitigate capacity and currency issues in the Unix estate * Assist Capacity Planners in creation of capacity plans, budgets and business cases * Assist in deploying over-standard capacity to projects. * Create automated tools for config and capacity information gathering * Provide a single point of contact for Managed Testing for Unix issues and initiatives. * Provision of technical consultancy and delivery of changes. * Provide contact / develop relationships with Unix Platform teams. * Identify opportunities for consolidation / rationalisation across the Unix estate * Work with the Unix Technical Leads to ensure adherence to standards and quality of MT inputs. * Maintain the MT Unix Roadmap and Currency Plans. * Provide and maintain the overall technical ownership within MT for the Unix platform (SUN Solaris, RedHat Linux, IBM AIX & HPux). * Deliver capacity and Currency projects and upgrades to the agreed scope, on time and budget. * Review Platform SoEs for Upgrades, improvements and End of Life Programmes * Provide operational input to engineering roadmaps for each of the Unix platforms, working in partnership with the Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture function. * Proactively identify areas where more effective operational principals and processes can be adopted. * Maintain market awareness of new products that could potentially offer improved value to business. * Deliverables: criteria/results by which success can be measured * Any delivery issues rooted in infrastructure alignment or knowledge issues are supported, resolved and prevented in the future. * Technology adoption delivers changes to the estate which are well documented, managed and can be provisioned to projects seamlessly, i.e. Test Environment infrastructure blueprints are produced to enable right first time project environment allocation, build and configuration in line with the agreed standards and strategies, as well as to project plans, costs and quality * Monitoring and reporting on utilisation and effectiveness of the test infrastructure blueprints with appropriate MI and trend reporting to ensure optimal use of test estate infrastructure * Service improvement targets defined and met * Risks and issues within the team and the wider unit are promptly raised and actively managed. * Essential Experience: (Must have skills) * UNIX: Expert knowledge in one of the following O/Ss, Linux (RedHat), Sun Solaris, IBM AIX or HPux & HW platforms, with an ability to work in at least in one other flavour comfortably * Previous experience of working as a Unix/Linux Admin/Architect on large/medium Data centres, comfortable in providing consultation level technical direction/advice to BAU/Dev Teams * Strong understanding of capacity concepts with respect to Unix platforms * Working knowledge of patching, upgrade planning and roadmap preparation. * Experience of planning, creating proposals and technical studies * Exposure to Oracle 10g &11G shared implementations - Concept only not hands on required * Package creation on Solaris and RPM on Linux, * Shell scripting/Perl, - Concept only not hands on required * Working knowledge of EMC (or similar) enterprise storage systems and associated features: SRDF, BCV, Powerpath,- Concept only not hands on required * Implementation of projects for the upgrade or refresh of enterprise infrastructure, * Strong operational process management expertise, experience of ITIL or other IT operations frameworks. * Veritas Volume Manager * Veritas Cluster * Supplementary Experience: (Useful additional skills) Enterprise deployment and management of Tivoli monitoring suite * Working knowledge of Veritas NetBackup Enterprise Server * Working knowledge of VMWare as it applies to Unix VMs * Working knowledge of LDAP products (Sun One) * Infrastructure deployment within Banking Organisations If you are interested in this opportunity, kindly send your updated profile to amisha.shah@naukri.com with following details: Total IT exp: Relevant exp: Date Of Birth: Current Address: Permanent Address Present CTC: Expected CTC: Notice Period: ps : Kindly do a good turn by forwarding this id to your friends with similar profile so that they can also forward their CV's Thanks & Regards, Amisha Shah Quadrangle The Search Division of InfoEdge India Ltd N-203, Manipal Centre, Dickenson Road, Bangalore- 560042 Email ID: amisha.shah@naukri.com www.quadranglesearch.com www.infoedge.in
