Network Engineer (Telstra)

Role:

·         The incumbent is responsible for the following ;

·         The efficient Operation and Maintenance of all Network elements including their associated environmental systems and cabling in all sites within the Region.

·         Work with the NOC’s and Engineering teams to resolve network faults on all equipment types for all services types, whilst providing appropriate updates in the Telstra International ticketing system in a timely manner.

·         Complete all tasks associated with service provisioning in a timely manner to ensure KPI targets for service delivery can be met including the production of all associated documentation and updating of appropriate systems such as CCMS.

·         Liaise closely with other engineers within the organization as well as in customer and supplier organizations.

·         Be on call and during this period be available to perform level 1& 2 support as directed by the NOC. Also be responsible to carry out planned events and network augmentation at times specified by NOC or engineering groups.

·         Manage projects within Region including the introduction of new voice and data technologies and will also be responsible for the co-ordination of all site infrastructure projects and facilities management.

·         All environmentals covering power, generator, air-conditioning, rectifiers and UPS at all regional POP sites ensuring that support contracts and services are in place and that the technical environment is robust and resilient.

·         Be conversant with IT systems and provide basic level 1 support and liaise with the global help desk and other global system support teams.

·         Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.

·         Perform audits of records as instructed.

Technical skills required:

·         Good theoretical and practical knowledge of data communications systems

·         Thorough understanding of International Telecommunication services including some understanding of Submarine Cable Systems.

·         Good technical knowledge of network systems in particular IP Routers and switches (Cisco and Juniper), SDH transmission equipment (Ericsson). and where applicable Ericsson NGN Voice switch.
