Job Description:
Software Engineer for Development/ technical leads
Exp – 5– 14 , IC role
==============================
Contribute to architecture design and write functional and design specs. Write high-quality and performance sensitive code to be used in a 24x7, always up environment. Write unit, integration, test plans. Debug problems at the system level. Experience needed in router system infrastructure, platform driver development in Microcode, TCAM and L2/L3 forwarding, MPLS/VPN, QoS, ATM, POS, GigE technology areas.
Technical Skills
- Good Understanding in IP Routing, Forwarding & MPLS Protocols/Technology
- L2-L3 Apps (L2 protocols such as HDLC, PPP, ARP, HSRP/VRRP, CDP)
– Experience in Networking technologies, protocols and/or infrastructure (please see some details below)
– Ability to debug complicated system-level issues.
– Exposure to product life cycle and tools
– Customer experience: Reproduction and debugging of customer issues, handling of field queries
Details on Technical requirements
§ Networking Technologies:
– IPv4/v6, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, PIM
– MPLS based L3 VPN and QoS(TE)
– ATM, Frame Relay, HDLC, SONET, SDH, POS, IPoDWDM
- L2-L3 Apps (L2 protocols such as HDLC, PPP, ARP, HSRP/VRRP, CDP)
– L2 VPN: (AToM, VPLS, VPWS) and QoS(TE)
– Ethernet: GE, 802.1q VLANs, 802.1ad (QinQ)
– ACL, QoS
§ Switch/Router Platform Infrastructure:
– L2/L3 Forwarding Infrastructure
Soft-skills
– Excellent verbal/written communication skills, Teamwork and interpersonal skills
– Interact with various functions and teams of the product, including marketing, QA, H/W, A/C teams etc.
- Mentor junior engineers.
Typically requires MS/Mtech or BE combined with 5-10+ years of related experience.

* Manual and automated testing, Quick sanity tests
* Understand Cisco release process, product life cycle and fit the system testing within the release timelines
* Follow test processes such as bug logging, bug repro, result archival
* Ability to work as a very good team member and share resources, work content to meet common team goals
* Very good customer interaction skills
* Ability to multi-task, and work under project pressure.
Typically requires BS/MS combined with 5-10+ years of related experience.
