We are seeking a Professional Services Engineer for our growing Professional Services team. In this role you will provide post-sales services and support for enterprise customers. You will work closely with account (sales) teams and customers to understand customer requirements, scope appropriate services, and deliver service projects. Service projects include various aspects of project planning, project management, installations, requirements analysis, architecture, design, Implementation, optimization, and on-going customer support processes.
Professional Service Engineer (Storage & Data Protection)
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Professional Services team and share best practices in order to assist customers through on-site support and consulting services including:
- Project planning and management for tasks of moderate to highcomplexity
- Installation and configuration of hardware and software products
- Implementation of backup and restore, disaster recovery, storage consolidation, data protection, storage performance, etc
- Optimization including upgrades, performance monitoring and system audit tasks
- Customer support including troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Communication with clients and management.
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support to technical support team.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential and are utilized in communicating with team members, systems administrators and managers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and managers in a team environment to share best practices and meet aggressive goals, and meet high quality standards.
- Ability to work well with customers' technical representatives under a variety of circumstances to best understand and meet customer expectations.
- Candidates with any of the following experience are preferred:
- Windows: good knowledge of Windows, and NTFS security concepts.
- Unix: good knowledge of Linux, UNIX (HP/AIX/Solaris) and administration concepts including disk and network administration, NFS and NIS/NIS+ administration
- Networking: basic knowledge of Ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons, network architectures including hubs, repeaters, bridges, routers, and switches.
- Storage: knowledge of storage administration and the concepts of file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, mirroring and sizing, NAS, DAS, SAN
- Data protection: knowledge of backup administration and disaster recovery
Education & Experience:
- 3 years or more in open system storage and data protection
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Diploma in IT and fresh graduate are welcome to apply
- Implementation and administration experience of one or more of the following products: Symantec NetBackup, Backup Exec, EMC Legato
- NetWorker, CommVault, NetApp, HDS AMS, IBM DS-Series, HP MSA/EVA,
- Symantec Enterprise Vault, and EMC Data Domain.
- Good understanding of various common applications and databases like
- Oracle, Microsoft SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, Lotus Notes, etc.
- MCSE or other System Certifications are a plus.
- Preferably experience in setting up highly available storage and backup environments and disaster recovery
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
