The client company is a Global Leader in Oil & Gas and Shipping industries.
Position Summary
The Application Developer / Support position is accountable for the ongoing application support and enhancement of the company's Global Energy and Shipping applications, specifically around Endur, DW/EDW technologies, Business Objects, Shipnet, ZEMA and CreditRisk.
He/She will also participate in the development of technical solutions to meet business needs. The candidate will be working directly with users to resolve business issues; investigate data issues by doing analysis using application provided tools and SQL query tools; see the issue through to successful resolution; develop (or modify) reports/code to meet user specifications and work with the BA to design solutions and implement them.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with business partners and business analysts to resolve business critical issues with the trading systems;
- Coordinate change management for the assigned solutions;
- Technical ownership of their designated area and all custom developed software therein, with a strong predisposition for production stability.
- Accountable for the delivery of coding enhancements and bug fixes (in the appropriate technologies) for the solutions associated with their area of responsibility
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
* 5+ years experience in successfully providing application support / development in a corporate setting; * Full life cycle development experience in a support / development role; * Experience supporting technology solutions, including change management, application testing, data integrity management and end-user support and training; * Experience designing or changing business critical reports/processes to gain full value from technology solutions; * Energy trading industry experience required; * Understanding of valuation and pricing models as they pertain to energy commodities; * Commodity experience with one or more of the following commodities; Oil, Power, Natural Gas, LNG or NGL * Development/Work experience with at least 3 of the following systems required: Endur, DW/EDW technologies, Business Objects, Shipnet, ZEMA and CreditRisk * ITIL Foundation qualification preferred
Knowledge:
* Knowledge in specific areas of Energy Trading * Knowledge of development life cycle and support of applications; * Able to quickly adopt and learn new technologies as well as posses the ability to train team members Have at least 3 of the items listed below - Openlink Endur development experience - Endur AVS coding skills - Indepth knowledge of Endur's DB schema - Extensive knowledge of Endur's Simulation Results and AVS Libraries - Experienced in handling memory management issues with AVS scripting - DW/EDW technologies experience - Familiar with ETL best practices - Experienced in both denormalized DW and star schema approach - Well-versed in optimizing DW loading processes and queries - Business Objects development experience in Webi and Dashboard - Proficient with writing Webi reports - Experienced in Universe design - Experienced in Dashboard design and development - Shipnet development experience - Indepth knowledge of Shipnet's DB schema - Experienced in writing queries and reports around the Shipnet dataset - Familiar with the process and use of the Shipnet system - ZEMA development experience - Indepth knowledge of Zema's DB schema - Proficient in writing queries to extract data from ZEMA - Experienced in writing code/scripts to load and extract data into Zema - CreditRisk (Rome) development experience - Indepth knowledge of CreditRisk's DB schema - Experienced in writing queries and reports around the CreditRisk dataset - Familiar with the calculations and processes required to generate Credit risk reports in CreditRisk
Skills: * Ability to optimize the use of technology in meeting business needs; * Ability to manage a team and balance work loads and priorities for team members * Demonstrates technical credibility and exercises independent judgment and decision-making responsibilities on all Application Development matters * Is decisive, focuses on priorities, demonstrates high engagement levels and communicates upwards with no surprises * Ability to quickly understand business functions * Skill in managing internal customer expectations; * Management of the application change request and enhancement process; * Relationship management; * Ability to work with technical resources to effect change or correct problems in applications; * Skilled in bringing about production stability and operational excellence * An aptitude for technical matters with a strong disposition for technical excellence * A very strong customer orientated approach with a delivery bias
